IF WISHES WERE HORSES II

If wishes were horses, I’d ride them to tomorrow,

where no soul is chained to sorrow,

where hope is not a dream, but the seed we all sow,

and kindness is the only wealth we know.

If wishes were horses, I’d set them free,

to gallop across deserts of poverty,

to carry food to every hungry child,

and turn their silent tears into radiant smiles.

If wishes were horses, I’d wish for time to heal,

for scars of the past to finally seal,

for truth to stand taller than deceit,

and justice to never bow in defeat.

If wishes were horses, I’d wish we could see,

that your freedom is tied to mine equally,

that no color, no race, no religion,

should blind us to love, the world’s greatest need.

If wishes were horses, they’d race through the sky,

planting stars in the eyes of the weary who cry,

They’d carry our prayers to the edge of the sun,

reminding us all; we are many, but one.

If wishes were horses, I’d wish we’d understand,

that peace is not given, it’s built by our hands,

that every heart beating is a reason to live,

and the greatest of powers is learning to give.

So if wishes were horses, I’d wish this for you:

That your light never dims, your skies stay blue,

that love walks beside you, unbroken, & sincere,

and may your wish for a better world…

Begin right here.
