SKELETON IN THE CLOSET

We hurt, pain, and cry in secrecy,

fake-face acting like we're okay,

behind the smile, we try to conceal our emotion hoping to find a sedative to numb

the pain we feel inside, we suffer alone in silence as we slowly die with no one to divulge.

we break and crash as tears flow down our eyes, like waterfalls as we battle the demons that haunt our minds and the memories that keep us in chains.

we long for someone to confide,

someone to hug and tell us, everything will be okay, but we fear criticism and rejection.

so, we bottle the pain up in our minds and keep them locked away as we grow cold, dark and old and slowly die.

You ever wonder why it's mostly men who commit suicide?

My friend, know this: you're not alone,

there are so many others too, who seek exit off life, everyone has a skeleton in their closet.

So, don't die, stay alive, reach out and let your voice be heard,

for healing begins with a single word.
